AC Power Supply Socket

There are several different types of power sockets used around the world. Each country has their own unique socket type that is compatible with their respective electrical standards. Understanding the different types of power sockets is important for anyone who plans to travel to different countries or needs to use electronic devices from other parts of the world.

The most common type of power socket, used in North America and parts of Central and South America, is the NEMA 5-15. This socket provides 120 volts of AC power and has two flat parallel slots, one of which is slightly wider than the other.

In Europe, the most common type of power socket is the Schuko socket. This socket has two rounded pins, with a hole for grounding. It provides 220-240 volts of AC power and is used throughout mainland Europe (excluding the UK).
